Public hearing on proposed festival cancelled after promoters ask for delay

A public hearing on a proposal to hold a day-long “Celebrate Rappahannock” music festival at the Blue Rock Inn next spring has been postponed after the festival promoters asked that their application be tabled for a month.

The Rappahannock County Planning Commission had been scheduled to hold a public hearing on Wednesday (Dec. 20) evening on the controversial plan, which was expected to stir considerable opposition. The commission, having no other business on its agenda, cancelled Wednesday’s meeting after the applicant, Finley Productions, requested a delay in order to consult with Blue Rock’s neighbors and modify their application for a permit for the event.

If the promoters wish to pursue their plan, the application will be heard at the commission’s next regular meeting, scheduled for Jan. 17, according to County Administrator John McCarthy.

For background and detail on the proposal, see the article below posted on Dec. 11.
