Rapphannock gives the OK to “Merry Christmas”

It may be politically correct to wish everyone “Happy Holidays,” but most Rappahannock County people think it’s still OK to wish everyone a “Merry Christmas.”

That’s the major finding of The Rappahannock Voice’s latest poll, in which 96 readers responded on the sometimes-controversial question about Christmas greetings. In the poll, 69% of those who responded (66 votes) said “It’s OK to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.”

Another 14% (13 respondents) were more cautious, saying “It’s OK if you know the person you’re talking to is Christian.” Only 3 votes (3% of the total) endorsed the politically correct view that “It’s not OK because it may offend non-Christians.”

Finally, 14 respondents or 15% of the sample chose the answer, “If people are offended, it’s their problem.”

So, since we’re still in the season, we would like to wish everyone a “Merry Christmas.” If this offends you, that’s your problem.
