Missing man found alive inside culvert in Shenandoah National Park after five-day search
Shenandoah National Park officials announced Friday that Christopher David Beach, a 40 year old Fredericksburg area man who had been missing since Sunday, was located Friday around 11:00 a.m. inside a culvert under Route 211 approximately one mile west of Skyline Drive in the park. He was responsive and talking to rescuers and was transferred to Winchester Medical Center where he is in stable condition.
Beach walked away from his vehicle and into the woods near Panorama on Sunday, Oct. 28, at approximately 6 p.m. His fiance immediately reported to park officials Beach’s actions and that he was despondent. Short thereafter, search operations were underway. About 100 park employees and volunteers were involved during the five-day search.
