Thirteen-year-old Briony Tallis irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister’s lover of a crime he did not commit. She observes a flirtation between a servant’s son, Robbie, and her older sister, Cecilla, that she childishly misconstrues and her accusations lead to a terrible crime whose consequences follow them through World War II.
