Boys’ Soccer Teams Post Wins
Both JV and varsity boys’ soccer teams posted welcome victories over Strasburg at home Friday, April 25. The teams have been involved in tough injury-plagued seasons.
In the varsity game Rapp scored first with a nifty passing game and a finish by Steve Dodson. Strasburg countered as the half was drawing to a close and the first half ended with a 1-1 score. Reed Dove got a second goal for the Panthers, and this time goalie Austin Burnett was able to shut the Rams down for the 2-1 Rapp win.
“Congratulations to the guys. They deserved a win,” Coach Shay Bell said. “They have been working so hard. Even after the losses and injuries, they still came to play, not giving up, not letting down.” It was the second win for Rapp so far this year.
Both JV goals were scored in the first half - one by John Letsen and the other by Chris Cooper. Rapp was able to hold Strasburg scoreless throughout the game. Coach Rich Hogan was pleased with the game, noting that Strasburg’s team was similar in age to Rappahannock’s, after several games against older boys.
The boys’ soccer teams were scheduled to hold Madison at home on Tuesday, April 29.
