Shenandoah National Park gets a new boss, Tennessee-born Martha Bogle
The National Park Service appointed a Tennessee-born woman, Martha Bogle, as the new superintendent of Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.

County schools tally 908 students on first day, just below similar total for a year earlier
When the new school year opened on Monday, first-day enrollment totaled 908 students in Rappahannock County Public Schools, Superintendent Robert Chappell reported Tuesday.

Scrabble School restoration project attracts six bidders; low bid puts costs at about $550,000
