In this 1939-set film, Miss Guinevere Pettigrew, a middle-aged London governess, finds herself unfairly dismissed from her job. Taking a chance with a new job as a social secretary, she finds herself immediately caught up in the dizzying social whirl of an American actress and singer. She tries to help her charge navigate a love life and career, both of which are complicated by the three men in her life in this delightful comedy.
