‘GospelFest’ to benefit African-American Heritage Center

The Scrabble School Foundation presents “GospelFest”, at the Rappahannock County High School Auditorium, a fund raiser to benefit the “African-American Heritage Center” planned for the Scrabble School site.

The program will feature Richard Brady, David Clanagan, Nanette Roberts, George Banks, Reverend Anna Allsberry, Promise Land Baptist Church Men’s Choir, Reynold’s Memorial Church Praise Team, Shiloh Baptist Church Praise Team and more local singers and musicians. Light refreshments. Early reservations are encouraged. Donations: adult, $20; student, $10. Bobby Glasker and Rev. Anna Allsberry are co-masters of ceremony. This is the second GospelFest that the Foundation has sponsored. The first was in April 2006 at the Theatre at Washington, VA, for benefit of the Scrabble School restoration project that is nearing start-up, expected in October 2008, with projected completion date in early 2009.
The Heritage Center will tell the story of Scrabble School during its period of operation (1922-1968) for the education African-Amercan students in Rappahannock County.
