Artist Thomas Mullany to display new work at R.H. Ballard
In a continuing presentation of regional, national and international artists, R.H. Ballard Gallery is proud to present the new paintings of Washington, VA artist Thomas Mullany, from September 27 through October 19, 2008.
An opening reception for the artist will take place Saturday, September 27th at the gallery on Main Street in Historic Washington, Virginia from 4:30 – 7:00 pm. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.
This new exhibition has been highly anticipated by local and national clientèle, as Mullany has not had a solo show in two years. He will be exhibiting new paintings and sculpture that display his unique and ironic take on life and its issues, as well as his lyrical landscapes for which he is well known.
Those familiar with the amazing breadth of Mullany’s work, will not be disappointed. This show is not to be missed and runs for three weeks only.
Mullany’s work continues to be a mastery and an advanced understanding of paint and light reminiscent of a number of his historical mentors, e.g. Thomas Cole and the Hudson River School, as well as such 20th century American masters as Edward Hopper, Thomas Hart Benton and Grant Wood.
A graduate of the Corcoran School of Art, Mullany moved to Washington, VA, over a decade and a half ago, and lives here with his wife Kerrie (also a Corcoran graduate and an accomplished artist) and two boys, Will and Sam.
Mullany has been represented by R.H. Ballard Gallery since 1999 and his work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. in numerous one-person shows in Washington, DC, New York City, and Charlotte NC. He has received a wide range of public commissions as well, in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, New York, and his work is included in numerous public and private collections
R.H. Ballard Gallery is located at 307 Main Street in Historic Washington, VA, Open Everyday, 10-6. To schedule an appointment, contact Robert Ballard at the gallery, 540-675-1411. www.rhballard.com
